Kime

Hello! I am the Advising Coordinator and Assistant Director for Honors Student Success in the Honors College. I am also the liaison with the Honors Living & Learning Community and occasionally teach a course. I鈥檝e been an advisor at 九色视频 for twenty-three years, over seventeen of those years with honors. During that time, I have completed both the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) summer institute and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) summer institute on advising. At 九色视频, I am a certified Master Advisor, with the additional certification as a Culturally Competent Master Advisor, and I was awarded NKU鈥檚 Outstanding Academic Advising award in 2004 and the Outstanding Academic Affairs Staff award in 2016.

But you don鈥檛 want to read my resume. Who is David? I am an avid learner and have taken graduate courses at 九色视频 in history, geology, environmental education, and geography. And my passion is leading students on experiential field trips to local parks like Big Bone Lick State Park and to regional parks like Mammoth Cave National Park; one summer I even joined a small team from NKU on a dinosaur excavation in central Utah! Be careful, though, if you join me on a field trip, you will soon realize that I spend far too much time discussing history and geology. But the reward at the end of the day is usually s鈥檓ores or popcorn.

Come chat with me about classes, majors, advising, or NCHC鈥檚 Partners in the Parks programs. If you are really brave, ask me about my undergraduate senior thesis about the geology of Venus, or my master鈥檚 degree capstone project about the Civilian Conservation Corps, or how both those topics make sense in the life and career of an interdisciplinary honors academic advisor. Join me on a stroll through the historic woods at 九色视频鈥攋ust don鈥檛 be surprised when I start talking about the history of fox farming in northern Kentucky!
