Effigy Jar
This owl effigy jar is a modern vessel from Chihuahua, Mexico and is based on the ancient Casas Grandes style of pottery. The facial features of the owl are painted in black and red. Birds were an important symbol for the Casas Grandes people and are often depicted in pottery; birds may have been related to the concept of a spiritual journey.
